Since retiring as an active player in 1996, Dave has used his vast experience to teach young players.  He served as hitting instructor/consultant for the Trenton Thunder (Boston Red Sox Double-A affiliate), head coach at Mercer County Community College and head coach at Notre Dame High School.  Dave has also been involved with youth league baseball with his sons Evan and Logan.

Dave has given private hitting instruction for over 20 years.  His ability and desire to teach youth players eventually culminated with the opening of the The Dave Gallagher All American Baseball Academy at Frogbridge.  The academy has flourished since opening in November, 2002.
