The Dave Gallagher Baseball Academy has assembled a team of 2009 graduates for the fall 2008 season. The team is comprised of players who have the potential to attend and play collegiate baseball at the Division I, II, III or junior college level. Players on the roster are invited to join by Dave Gallagher and his staff. Team members are committed 100 percent to this team from the first practice until the final game. The roster will be completed by June 1, 2008.
The team will begin practice in late July. All players will participate in the Best In Class showcase on Sunday, August 3 held at Frogbridge. Practice will continue through the month of August and early September. Exhibition games will be played in September and October, including two tournaments in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania and at Baseball Heaven in Long Island, NY. The season will end in mid-November.
Practices will provide opportunities to assess and improve individual strengths and weaknesses. They will also be used to work on situational defense, baserunning, pick plays and situational hitting. The exhibition games will provide more teaching points and also allow the coaches to address the mental aspects of the game.
The primary purpose of this team is to improve each player’s understanding of the game and his physical skills. The staff will teach the player’s how to play and utilize the powers of observation on the field. At season’s end, players will be given a personal player evaluation which outlines their strengths and areas that require further improvement. The goal of the coaching staff is to have each player emerge from the fall season as a better player than when they began.
Dave Gallagher will assist in matching players with college programs that express interest in a player. His reputation is exceptional in the eyes of college coaches in terms of knowledge, player assessment, and honesty. His assistant coaches who have played and coached in college are also reputable and trusted.
